The most important centre for conferences and trade exhibitions in London is probably the ExCel London, an international centre situated in the Royal Docks area (also known as Docklands).
It’s original name is due to the acronym of the words Exhibition, Centre and London.
The ExCel London opened in 2000, and since then it has been hosting more than 1200 events, of any kind: from high-tech’s field to the tourism one, food and drink, home, ect.
Among the most important events that take place here all year round (appealing more that 3,000,000 visitors) we recall:
the World Travel Market, surely the major tourist fair of the entire Europe, in which the worldwide tourist players (accommodations, tour operators, airlines companies) meet and match their strategies;
the London International Wine & Spirits Fair, the world’s main exhibition dedicated to to buying and selling wine and spirits, in which all the major wine producing countries show their products to the 16,000 yearly-visitors (that are able to taste and evaluate them);
the Toy Fair, the european largest toy trade show;
the London Book Fair, a very large book-publishing trade event that takes usually place in March;
the London Boat Show, that’s held each January: it’s so important that it’s been taking place for 54 years!
The ExCel London is very easy, thanks to its strategic location: it’s situated in fact very near the London City Airport (from wich it’s connected through many daily shuttles).
The ExCel London is also served by two railway stations : the Custom House Station and the Prince Regent Station. The both are linked by the Docklands Light Railway.
Thus, it’s badly advised the use of the car to reach the fair.
